A DTH drill hammer, or down-the-hole hammer, uses compressed air to drive an internal piston and transfer impact energy directly to the drill bit at the bottom of the borehole. FIRIP currently provides both low air pressure DTH hammers and high air pressure DTH hammers, allowing drilling equipment to be matched with different air compressor capacities, rock conditions and project requirements.
The Low Air Pressure DTH Hammer is available in models from CIR56 to CIR200 and is designed to operate at approximately 0.4–0.7 MPa. It is particularly suitable for small or energy-efficient drilling rigs and for soft, fractured or lower-density rock formations. Typical applications include water well and geothermal drilling, mining and quarry blast holes, foundation work and anchoring projects. FIRIP's current product supports borehole diameters of approximately 85–178 mm.
The High Air Pressure DTH Hammer is designed for higher impact force and drilling efficiency. Its internal air distribution and hammer structure are optimized to improve energy transfer, drilling speed and air consumption. The design also includes features intended to support cuttings discharge, easier disassembly and safer bit retention during demanding rock drilling operations.
Selecting between a low pressure and high pressure DTH hammer depends on the available compressor pressure, borehole diameter, rock formation and required drilling efficiency. Proper matching between the DTH hammer and DTH drill bit is also important for stable penetration and tool life.
As an experienced rock drilling tools manufacturer, FIRIP supports buyers with DTH drilling tools for different operating conditions. Both current hammer products support customization based on technical drawings or physical samples, and additional project requirements can be discussed through FIRIP's custom drilling tool services.
